Elk Valley Resources (EVR) has dug its heels in to secure another competition win – this time for a good cause.
The company has raised $948,954 for this year’s Mining for Miracles campaign, an annual fundraising contest for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Fundraisers Craig Bishop, Laura Gislason, Shane Green and Ernie Canlas shared roughly 84 per cent of those wins, with first-time participants Michael O’Shaughnessy and Dallas Cain raising the remaining $146,620.
“EVR raised more money than any other company participating in the signature Pie Throw event, an achievement we can all be proud of,” said Richard Whittington, EVR vice president of development and projects.
“Once again, it was the enthusiasm of our employees, contractors and site champions who made EVR’s campaign a huge success.”
A total of $2,105,220 had been raised from Mining for Miracles this year, with funding set to help build a first-of-its-kind centre for health complexity at the Hospital.
This competition also marks EVR’s second time receiving top honours over the past month, following its success at the 68th annual B.C. Provincial Mine Rescue and First Aid Competition in late May.
