Cranbrook City Council has approved a staff application to Columbia Basin Trust’s GATHER program for improvements to Pop Price Park.
The Gathering Area and Town Hub Enhancement and Revitalization (GATHER) program funds projects that revitalize, restore and enhance outdoor gathering spaces to support social connection and community vitality.
The City is seeking $416,100 to support project planning and design, as well as outdoor improvements that align with the program’s goals.
As a large community, Cranbrook is eligible to receive up to 75 per cent of project costs, with the city contributing the remaining 25 per cent.
The proposed work includes a washroom facility, bridge upgrades, trail enhancements and landscaping.
If the application is successful, the project will also include planning and design for a park master plan and provide a higher level of service for the proposed improvements at no additional cost to the city.
Further project details and design work will be required regardless of the grant decision.
