The City of Cranbrook is looking to make the election process easier to navigate with the announcement of several key dates and locations.
“Cranbrook voters will head to the polls this fall to choose the next Mayor and Council, along with trustees for School District #5,” said the City.
“Whether you vote on General Voting Day, take advantage of an advance poll, or request a mail ballot, there are several convenient ways to have your say in the 2026 General Municipal Election.”
General voting is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Laurie Middle School Gym, 1808 2nd Street South.
Voters who want to be ahead can head to the Senior Citizens Hall at the same time slot on October 7 and 14, and special voting opportunities are available for admitted patients or folks in long-term care facilities on October 15. Those opportunities are as follows:
- Kootenay Street Village (9 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
- Fred Scott Rotary Villa (9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.)
- Joseph Creek Village (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
- Dr. FW Green Memorial Home (10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.)
- Kootenay Street Care Village (12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
- East Kootenay Regional Hospital (1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
- Joseph Creek Care Village (2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
- Mountain View Village (5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.)
If you’re not registered for the 2026 Municipal Election, you can also do so at the polls when you come to vote by bringing two pieces of I.D., one with your name and signature and another with a name and civic address.
Anyone voting by mail is asked to request their ballot package as soon as possible by emailing the Chief Elections Officer at Elections.Officer@cranbrook.ca or calling 1-866-231-7792. Packages are set to be sent out around September 28.
