Elkford residents may have to turn to officials for water after a pump failure caused a system-wide service disruption across the district.
The District first announced the issue before 9 p.m. Tuesday, saying the mechanical failure reduced the available water supply.
As of 10:15 a.m. today (June 17), a boil water advisory remains in effect for parts of the district, with another section possibly experiencing reduced water pressure.
“We encourage residents to check on neighbours, friends and family who may need suppor,” said the District. “If someone requires assistance or additional help accessing water, please contact Public Works at 250-865-4025.”
Residents can fill buckets for non-potable use from a water truck driving through the affected area, from a water station at the Community Conference Centre, or in front of the Elkford Fire Hall by 11 a.m.
Bottled water is being arranged for distribution, and public showers are available at the Aquatic Centre.
Affected properties are urged to shut off hot water tanks immediately.
The timeline for repairs has yet to be announced.
