While the grass may be green where you are, some parts of the Kootenays, in particular, are seeing drought-like conditions.
In fact, the BC Wildfire Service has been responding to an increasing number of calls in recent days, many of incidents considered as ‘human caused.’
Heading into Sunday night, there were six wildfires in the Southeast Fire Centre, which covers the Kootenay-Boundary region, and north into the Columbia.
Two of the six blazes, both near a stretch of Highway 6, south of Nakusp and discovered Monday, are deemed as out of control, but small in size.
