Following a long-standing problem with groundwater for several homes on Elkview Crescent, Fernie city council is moving forward on the hiring of a consultant.
It’s tapped ISL Engineering to carry out a study into the causes behind groundwater accumulating in basements and what a solution might look like.
In a statement, the city says the review, already partly underway, will include drilling groundwater monitoring wells, likely to occur in the summer.
The study is expected to take up to a year and will provide a full report to council and residents mid-to-late next year.
