Construction is officially starting on Fernie’s new Pine Avenue Child Care and Affordable Housing Project.
The project will deliver 98 childcare spaces and 27 housing units, according to the City of Fernie.
The project is a collaboration between the City of Fernie, the Elk Valley Family Society, and the Elk Valley Childcare Society.
Officials say the project reflects years of planning and partnership aimed at supporting local families.
“By working closely with our partners, we are advancing a solution that delivers both the childcare spaces and affordable homes our community urgently needs, and it’s exciting to see construction set to get underway,” said Fernie Mayor Nic Milligan.
The childcare centre will be located at 302 Pine Avenue, next to the Fernie Aquatic Centre.
