Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says hazardous winter conditions are expected over Kootenay Pass along Highway 3.
Forecasters say up to 35 centimetres of snow could fall between today (Mar. 11) and tomorrow (Mar. 12), with wind gusts reaching up to 80 kilometres per hour.
The agency says driving conditions will likely be challenging, with blowing snow and rapidly changing weather possible.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time for travel.
The website shiftintowinter.ca also reminds motorists to plan, adjust to winter driving conditions, and ensure vehicles are equipped with winter tires and chains.
Road conditions are available at drivebc.ca.
