The wood waste area at the Wasa Transfer Station has reopened following a closure due to several small fires.
According to the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK), the wood waste area reopened on Sunday (Feb. 8).
The wood waste area had been closed on Saturday (Feb. 7) after several small, isolated fires were discovered in the area.
Officials noted at the time that the fires were mostly smouldering and posed no risk of further spread, though smoke was visible in the area.
Staff remained on site during the incident, and no injuries or further issues were reported.
