A city-wide water quality advisory is set to be in effect for Cranbrook from March 2 to March 6, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.
The City of Cranbrook says crews will be out inspecting the City’s water main trunk, which supplies water from the Phillips Reservoir to Cranbrook.
During that time, officials say residents may experience minor water pressure fluctuations, increased turbidity and cloudiness, as well as the possibility of elevated manganese levels.
According to the Government of Canada, manganese is a naturally occurring mineral that can enter drinking water and, while safe in small amounts, may pose health risks—particularly for infants—when levels are high.
Interior Health and the city recommend that children, seniors, people with weakened immune systems, and anyone seeking extra protection use boiled water or a safe alternative for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, and brushing teeth.
Water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.
City officials say water quality will be monitored throughout the inspection period, and updates will be provided as needed.
