The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) is seeking nominations for its 2026 Electoral Area Volunteers of the Year.
“Volunteers are the heart of our communities, and they are all around us,” says RDEK Board Chair Rob Gay.
“Is someone close to you making a positive change for those around them? These are the individuals or couples that the RDEK wants to celebrate. Please take a moment and nominate a volunteer in your electoral area, as honouring the people who make a difference in our region is so important,” Gay adds.
The RDEK will honour one community member or couple from each of its six electoral areas.
The RDEK says nominees must live in an Electoral Area (outside incorporated municipalities) and volunteer their time to support the spirit, culture, or people of the community.
Forms can be completed online at engage.rdek.bc.ca/volunteer or picked up at the Cranbrook office (19 24th Ave S, Cranbrook, B.C.) and the Columbia Valley RDEK offices.
The deadline for nominations is 12 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2026.
