The BC Wildfire Service has scheduled a prescribed burn for a section of trees, brush, and bush just outside of the Kimberley city limits, beginning today.
The burn, about 20 hectares in size, will be about eight kilometres southwest of the town in an area near Highway 95A and St. Mary Lake Road.
Smoke may shroud the area including some of the nearby roadways.
The hope is the burn will result in reducing the wildfire danger, eliminating some of the dead wood and other combustible materials that now exist.
It’ll only happen, however, if weather conditions allow.
