Environment Canada reported at least a dozen temperature records have been broken in BC as of Monday, surpassing the eight that fell on Sunday.
Canada’s high was also recorded near Lytton yesterday, where temperatures reached 40.5 degrees Celsius.
The heat wave is expected to continue in central and southern regions of the province until at least Thursday.
Interior Health is advising Kootenay residents to do what they can to beat the heat, like staying in air conditioned public buildings, staying in the shade when outdoors and drinking plenty of water.
