A reminder from the BC Wildfire Service and the Regional District of East Kootenay to stay out of restricted areas.
A statement from the RDEK says people who are trying to get photos, videos and close up access to the Lladner Creek Wildfire near Sparwood are putting themselves in danger.
They’re also blocking safe exit routes for fire crews.
The RDEK says this is unacceptable and needs to stop.

STAY OUT OF RESTRICTED AREAS (Lladner Creek Fire) – posted Aug.3.23. 12:45pm
People trying to get photos, videos and close-up access to the Lladnar Creek fire are not only putting themselves in potential danger, they are blocking safe exit routes for fire crews. They are going around barricades, finding “back routes” in, and blatantly disregarding safety.
This is UNACCEPTABLE and NEEDS TO STOP.
There is an Area Restriction around the fire…and there are hundreds of personnel working day and night to help protect the community. Let’s help them out by staying out of restricted areas, staying back from the fire, and respecting the Area Restriction.
