
Police in Cranbrook are investigating an act of mischief regarding an unknown substance being thrown onto the pickleball courts.
Cranbrook RCMP says several times in the past two weeks players have found a liquid substance that smells like sewage on the courts at Victoria Avenue, with one player even being hit by the substance.
Police warn if someone is spreading the liquid on purpose they could be charged with mischief and possible criminal repercussions.

Cranbrook RCMP are investigating an act of mischief after receiving several calls of a substance being thrown onto the courts.
On May 10, 2023, Cranbrook RCMP received its latest call from residents playing pickle ball on the Victoria Avenue courts.
Several times in the past two weeks, players have shown up to the courts and noted a liquid substance that has the odour of sewage.
At one point, one of the pickle ballers was actually hit with the substance.
“We are wanting to let the public know that if someone is doing this on purpose, it is mischief and there are possible criminal repercussions”, says Cst Katie Forgeron.
“If you have any idea who might be responsible we ask that you contact the local detachment at 250-489-3471”, adds Forgeron.
