Kimberley City Council approved an increase to the budget for the reconstruction of the city’s gymnastics centre.
Staff requested a budget increase of $84,509 to cover an expense that wasn’t initially accounted for in planning.
Chief Financial Officer Jim Hendricks says this budget request covers the construction of an insulated concrete wall, made with non-combustible materials.
The city had previously approved a $1.142 million budget for the facility after the previous building was lost to arson in December 2021.
The new gymnastics building is expected to be completed before the end of 2023.
