
Financial reports have been released by Elections BC for the 2022 Municipal Election, covering the campaign contributions and election expenses of all local candidates.
In Cranbrook’s mayoral race, former Mayor Lee Pratt had total expenditures amounting to $17,620.53.
This compared to current Mayor Wayne Price’s total expenditures, which equaled $7,058.82.
Kimberley Mayor Don McCormick had total election expenditures of around $1,217.98, despite running unopposed for the position.
Fernie’s mayoral race saw current Mayor Nic Milligan’s total expenditures amount to $10,895.12, significantly higher than the $2,407.22 in total expenses from former Mayor Ange Qualizza.
Spending in Sparwood’s mayoral race was generally low key, with Mayor David Wilks spending $948.64 in total expenditures, while his competition Hungry Baytaluke has no expenses filed for the election campaign.
Elkford’s mayoral race also saw low total expenditures, with current Mayor Steve Fairbairn reporting $365.60 in expenses, while Mandy McGregor’s expenses totaled about $295.15.
Both Canal Flats mayoral candidates Mark Doherty and Doug McCutcheon reported zero election expenditures in the 2022 campaign.
