The City of Kimberley released details earlier this week on their plans for a new organics collection truck.
City council awarded the purchase of a new collection truck to Westvax Industrial Limited in Calgary for a cost of $367,136.
The vehicle is a new 2022 Rotopac Automated Refuse Collection Body mounted on a 2023 Frieghtliner M2 Chassis.
Mayor Don McCormick says the cost of the new vehicle led to a minor adjustment to year two of the 2022-2026 Five Year Financial Plan, increasing capital expenditures by $746.
McCOrmick says efforts to get organics collection in place in Kimberley has been ongoing for a couple of years now, but he does not expect organics collection to be fully in place until 2024.
The money for the truck will be coming out of the city’s General Operating Capital Reserve.
