The Cranbrook Bucks are entering one of the busiest stretches of their BCHL regular season schedule this weekend.
The Bucks get started on a run of there games over three nights at home versus the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Friday.
Cranbrook split last weekend’s road trip with a loss in West Kelowna before taking a shootout win over the Rivermen in Langley, and they’re hoping to build momentum Friday night before venturing off on the road again.
Bucks forward Tyson Dyck was named the BCHL’s 2nd Star for last week after picking up seven points through three games.
He’s hoping for a similar showing Friday night versus one of the best defense units in the BCHL.
“I’ve been playing well, but I’ve also got guys around me that have been giving me the puck allowing me to bury my opportunities,” Dyck says. “It’s been nice, it’s been a good mix of everything lately.”
Dyck’s fourteen points (7g, 7a) leads the Bucks and places him sixteenth overall in BCHL scoring.
Meanwhile, defenceman Bauer Morrissey says he’s finding his groove while partnering with Bucks captain Rhys Bentham on the blueline.
“It’s a treat, he’s (Bentham) a very good player, he’s very good on defence,” says Morrissey. “I couldn’t ask for a better d-partner.”
Alberni Valley comes into Friday’s game as the third seed in the Coastal Conference standings, they last played on Wednesday in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Penticton Vees.
The Bulldogs have points in each of their last four games, and have allowed only two goals against over that time.
After Friday’s game, the Bucks are on the road for their first two meetings with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Saturday and Sunday.
The Silverbacks begin the weekend atop the Interior Conference standings, and they’re the only team in the league without a regulation loss through the season so far.
Friday’s Cranbrook Bucks game begins at 7:00 pm at Western Financial Place.
