Key City Theatre is announcing it’s 2022 musical performance.
The Theatre will be presenting the musical 9 to 5 in seven performances, starting with a New Years Eve Gala.
Director Brenda Burley says the production includes a foundation cast and an understudy cast to ensure the show can go on regardless if anyone gets sick.
“We’re practicing both of them to learn the show inside and out, upside down and backwards,” Burley says. “Because the understudy cast is working so hard we’re going to reserve one of our shows to be an understudy cast show. So they’ll get a chance to show our community all of their hard work too.”
Burley says they are taking all precautions to keep everyone healthy, including rehearsing with masks on and keeping windows open.
“We have all of the COVID protocols in place,” she says. “We’re making sure, because this is non essential service, we’ve got everybody with their vaccine proof and to keep each other safe and to keep our audience safe, we’re taking all of the rules that are being laid out by the provincial government very seriously.”

After months and months of waiting, our talented team of cast and crew have finally tumbled out of bed, yawned and stretched and come to life.
Key City Theatre is happy to announce our upcoming winter production:
9 to 5 the Musical
- December 31 – New Years Eve Gala
- January 14, 15, 16*, 20, 21, 22 *Sunday matinee performance
Created by the same dream team that brought you the Producers, Anything Goes, and Chicago – this season’s big, flashy musical promises to be a tour-de-force of talent, hilarity and toe-tapping fun.
Featuring musical numbers by the inimitable Dolly Parton and based on the classic hit movie of the same name,
9 to 5 the Musical is the perfect showcase for the incredible talent boasted by our community.
What changes has this pandemic wrought, you might ask? In the past it was normal for showbiz folks to live by the motto: THE SHOW MUST GO ON.
But nowadays that is not the case. Even a small bout of the sniffles is bound to keep our people home.
To make sure that the show really can go on, the team is comprised of both a foundation cast, and an understudy cast.
Feeling extremely fortunate to have such a large group of talented individuals, the team has unanimously decided to reserve one of our shows to be performed by the understudy cast.
So, if you want the full experience of just how much talent we have in our community, be sure to get tickets to the Thursday January 20th understudy show PLUS one of the other shows on January 14, 15, 16, 21 or 22.
Do you want to really supersize the fun?
For the full immersive experience, be the first in line to get tickets for our glitzy, glamorous 1970s themed New Year’s Eve Gala.
There is a special magic to any opening night of a show, and added to that magic is an evening of music, (hopefully) dancing, delicious food catered by The Heidout, specialty drinks and the sights and sounds of the
1970s.
So, fluff up your Farrah hair, grow out that cheesy moustache, throw on some vintage bell bottoms and ring in 2022 with the cast and crew at the Key City Theatre Discotheque.
