Today, we look at the Causeway Bay Hotel in Sparwood.

The Causeway Bay Hotel in Sparwood is situated in the heart of the Elk Valley, right across the street from the famous Titan Truck.
Regional Manager Joanne Wilton says the 83-room hotel has a wide selection of rooms, including jacuzzi suites.
Wilton says the hotel has come through for Elk Valley residents and travelers through several emergencies and border closures.
“My staff knows if the highway closes, they come in and go into action, setting up cots in our meeting room,” Wilton says. “Once the rooms are all full, people still need warm and safe places to sleep. Our building has been full of stranded people on many occasions over the nine years that I have managed the hotel.”
Wilton says the hotel also actively supports the mining sector and workers who are away from home for extended periods of time.
“We have many long-term stays for people working for the mines in some capacity,” Wilton says. “We are always mindful that these guests are away from their families and their homes. I believe our staff strive to make their stay as comfortable as possible. All of our guests are very important, some stay so long, they become a part of the fibre of our building.”
The Causeway Bay Hotel also has the Gateway Restaurant and Rockies Lounge available for patrons.
Wilton adds they have several meeting rooms, board rooms and banquet rooms for all varieties of events.
