Sam Steele Days is taking over Cranbrook.
The annual festival returns to the Key City Thursday, June 16.
Sam Steele Days Society coordinator Seanna-Lee Coolbaugh says the annual festival is returning in its traditional form after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
“The central fairgrounds is the place to be at 5:00 pm on Friday, that’s where we’re going to have the Balls of Steele Bocce Tournament kick off, and dancing to the Chevelles,” says Coolbaugh. “It’s the first time we’ve actually had a Friday night concert, dancing and all that – and it’s outdoors.”
The parade begins at 10:00 am Saturday, June 18, BC Transit is offering free bus rides to and from the festival that day.
The festival ends Sunday, June 19.

Sam Steele Days is back with a bang! Over the 4 day festival there are so many activities to take in for all ages! Whether it’s the many bbq’s and pancakes from great organizations like Tamarack Centre, Ek Realty, Friends of the Library, Fly Fusion Magazine, the The Girl Guides of Canada or the Realm Snack Shack or one of the many activities at the Western Financial Group’s Central Fairgrounds. Activities at the Central Fairgrounds include the Strongman by Fitness Inc, The Meant 2B Loved Wiener Races, BA Blacktop Inflatable Funland, Spring Honda’s Taste of Cranbrook, Manitoulin Transport Market, or the Total Pet/ Pet Valu Saturday Showcase. Check out a bocce game with a cold one at the BA Blacktop Balls of Steele in the Molson Coors Refreshment Gardens. After the market why not take the family roller skating at the curling centre.
Don’t forget to take in the East Kootenay Youth soccer tournament, Sam Steele Ball Tournament, The Cranbrook Buck’s BC/DC concert, beach volleyball, Eagles’ Bingo, Zumba, the Sweetheart Ambassador pageant, community worship in the park or the RDEK Recycle BC just to name a few.
The Sam Steele Society would like to thank all our sponsors in the community and a big thank you to our Gold and Platinum sponsors: Fly Fusion Magazine, Cranbrook Tourism, Just Music, Pacific Coastal, St Eugene Golf Resort & Casino, Spring Honda, Western Financial Group, Total Pet/ Pet Valu, Manitoulin Transport, Molson Coors, BA Blacktop, the City of Cranbrook and the Regional District of East Kootenay. Without their support none of this could happen.
