Grade twelve students in Cranbrook will be able to ride public transit for free in the days around their graduation.
The City of Cranbrook has partnered with BC Transit to give the graduating class of 2022 special bus passes which give them free bus rides for two days of their choice in June.
The City’s Charlotte Osborne says the passes will be printed off and sent to Mount Baker Secondary School grads.
“As Mount Baker is the only school in Cranbrook currently offering grade 12 classes, it is Mount Baker that will be participating,” Osborne says. “The City funds the BC Transit services here in Cranbrook, part of that funding will go towards the marketing and print materials required for the GradPass program.”
Osborne says the program is meant to encourage grads to travel safely for graduation celebrations.
“I think the program is an excellent way to introduce grade twelve students, and all students, to using transit as a way of getting to your destination,” she says. “We encourage all the City residents old and young to take a trip on our transit system.
