A significant construction project in the District of Sparwood is officially getting underway.
Starting Tuesday, April 19th, Sparwood’s Red Cedar Drive will be closed from Centennial Street to Alpine Place for road and pathway upgrades.
This is one of Sparwood’s big Spring construction projects, to deal with continual issues with erosion due to unknown ground water sources.
Mayor David Wilks says the work is essential for the community moving forward and to avoid a road washout in the future.
The road closure is expected to be in place until the end of September.
Construction will also lead to a new path for residents to travel on, as the southside sidewalk will be removed and a 2.5 meter paved walkway will be completed on the northside of Red Cedar Hill.
