The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce held its Business Excellence Awards on Saturday, celebrating the best of the best in the local business community
Thirteen awards were given to local businesses, non-profits and individuals Saturday night.
Winners included Sweet Gestures Chocolate Shoppe with Business of the Year 1-15 employees, Twisted Peaks Frozen Yogurt for new Business of the Year, Operation Street Angel for Non Profit of the Year, Two Birds Deli owners Marina Stropkey and Ella’s Café for Hospitality and Tourism Excellence.
Local restaurant and brewery the Heidout won two awards; Business of the year 16+ employees and Business Person of the Year for owner and operator Heidi Romich.
Chamber executive director Helen Barron says the event went off without a hitch.
“This is actually my first time attending the business excellence events and being part of putting it together, so it was really exciting and definitely a jewel in the crown of what the chamber does in a a year,” Barron says. “It’s unfortunate that everyone couldn’t be with us but it was really great to be able to accept on their behalf.”
Helen Barron says the Key City has an amazing range of business owners and entrepreneurs.
“They were all so well deserved and such amazing businesses in this community,” she says. “But I have to say I was really touched by Heidi’s award for Business person of the Year. Just seeing the emotion and excitement that it brought to her and to everyone else as well.”
It was the first awards show held by the chamber in two years after last year’s event was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
