Cranbrook is getting a new visitor centre.
The new centre is being opened by Cranbrook Tourism, who took over visitor centre operations from the Chamber of Commerce earlier this month.
Cranbrook City Council approved a fee for service agreement for Cranbrook Tourism at Monday night’s council meeting.
Councillor John Hudak says residents should expect the centre’s service delivery model to change, with reduced hours of operation.
“They’re going to engage in some mobile activity also, and I think that’s something that will be great,” Hudak says. “I don’t know how they are going to measure the metrics on that. Never the less kudos to Cranbrook Tourism for changing their model up a bit.”
The City’s Economic Development Officer Darren Brewer says new way finding signage to direct visitors to the new location will replace existing signs.
“I understand the paper work is being processed as we speak,” Brewer says. “Those signs, I believe some of them have come down and the remainder will be changed in the near future.”
The new visitor centre will be located at 800C Baker Street, right next to Cranbrook Photo.
