The BC Vaccine Card system will be in effect for a little while longer in the province.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says the system helps keep people and businesses safe.
She says if the province is in a better place before then, the government will look at adjusting COVID-19 rules.
“If we are in a better place before June 30, we will look to make adjustments early,” says Henry. “The BC Vaccine Card program is specifically designed to address those, and mitigate those risks that allow us to keep certain businesses and activities open during the period of the pandemic.”
The vaccine card shows proof of vaccination for those 12 years and older, and is needed to access restaurants, indoor events, fitness centres, and other facilities.
Henry also announced on Tuesday that sports tournaments for children and youth can resume on February 1.

As outlined in the Jan. 25 regular COVID-19 media availability, the B.C. Vaccine Card will remain in effect until June 30, 2022.
The vaccine card will be reviewed regularly and stopped sooner if the situation changes.
Sport tournaments for children and youth will resume effective Feb. 1, 2022. The prohibition on adult tournaments will continue to be in effect.
Both amendments will be reflected in the Public Health Order covering Gatherings and Events.
