A local environmental group is calling one of their new local initiatives a huge success in the Elk Valley.
Wildsight Elk Valley recently released a Year in Review infographic about their new store Local in downtown Fernie.
The store opened December 15th, 2020 and for the past year has focused on increasing access to locally produced food from local farms and food producers.
In the year since it opened, over $179,000 has been paid to food businesses in the region, with about 40 percent of that total staying in the Elk Valley.
This includes selling over 3,500 pounds of locally grown apples sold and serving over 600 customers on a monthly basis.
You can view the infographic from Wildsight above.
