The Cranbrook Bucks will look to build on their Oct. 31 win over the Okotoks Oilers when they visit the Surrey Eagles tonight (Nov. 6).
Head coach Roshen Jaswal told Pattison Media this week he was impressed with how the team bounced back, but said the win was also a reminder to play a full 60 minutes.
“It was a really good start for our team, obviously getting four on the first. I think just for us, just remembering that the game’s not over if you score four goals, because I think they came out in the second and pushed pretty hard,” said Roshen Jaswal, Head Coach, Cranbrook Bucks.
“It might have shocked us a little bit, but I think that was a really good lesson for our group early in the season.
“They made it 4-2, and then we came out in the third and did what we did, which was nice to get the lead back.
“I thought it was a really good lesson for our guys that you’ve got to play a full 60 minutes no matter what.”
The Bucks visit the Surrey Eagles tonight (Nov. 6). Jaswal said the wider ice surface should make for a more free-flowing game.
“They play on a bigger ice sheet. There’s an international sheet, so it’s a little wider,” he added.
“It’s a lot more free-flowing, and you have more time to move out there, which I think our guys are looking forward to that, like a little bit more room to play with.
“It’s kind of a bit more fun to play that way, obviously. So yeah, I think we just have to play a hard game, play our style no matter what size of the rink or how they play.
“And hopefully we have the success, we should earn that way.”

Jaswal said “puck movement” will be key for this matchup.
“We’ve cleaned up our D zone a little bit, just from some stuff we saw on the weekend and made some switches to that,” he said
“Just kind of continuing to work on what we need to be working on and implementing it.”
The Bucks face the Langley Rivermen on Saturday (Nov. 7). Jaswal will face a team led by a coach who coached him when he was younger.
“They play hard-nosed, they pump pucks up ice, and they get in on forechecks, and they’re very physical,” he explained.
“I think our guys just need to get used to that and understand that it’s going to be a hard game to play physically.
“But just again, sticking to our system and sticking to how we play and how we move the puck. I think if we can do that, we should be able to have some success.”

Jaswal also thanked fans and the community for supporting the team and cheering at games.
“I think obviously record-wise we’re doing a lot better now than we were at the start of the season,” he said.
“But, again, just awesome the support we’re getting from the fans and the community.
“So, yeah, thank you, guys, for all your support.”
