Construction of Fernie’s new fire hall is moving ahead, with Fernie Fire Rescue expected to move into the permanent facility in late 2027.
The City says underground utility work is complete, bringing communications conduits, water, wastewater and power services to the site.
The concrete foundation and foundation walls have been poured and formed. The building footprint has also been backfilled ahead of the arrival of precast wall panels.

The primary structure is expected to be complete by December, allowing interior floor construction to begin in the new year.
The City says the current temporary fire hall does not meet the operational, safety and space needs of a modern fire department.
The purpose-built replacement will help crews respond safely, quickly and effectively to emergencies, protect firefighter health and safety, meet regulatory requirements and serve the community.
