The East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) has launched a million-dollar campaign to replace aging mammography equipment at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
The foundation’s 2026 Starlite Campaign aims to raise $1 million for a 3Dimensions Mammography System with artificial intelligence at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
The foundation says the hospital’s current mammography equipment is nearing the end of its life.
The proposed replacement is designed to provide clearer three-dimensional images, support earlier breast cancer detection, improve diagnostic efficiency and enhance the screening experience for patients across the region.
The foundation says the campaign is about more than replacing equipment. It says earlier detection can give doctors the information they need sooner and help patients receive treatment earlier.
Community contributions can help improve breast cancer detection and care in the region for generations to come.
