Sparwood has adopted a bylaw amendment setting rates and definitions for its new bulk water station.
The Utility and Solid Waste Management Amendment Bylaw 1377 covers the station, which is expected to be operational by the end of October 2026.
The self-service, metered station will let customers pay only for the water they use, replacing a fixed daily charge.
Hydrant-based bulk water service will remain available in limited circumstances when customers cannot use the station, or the district has authorized hydrant use.
Customers using water for commercial beverage production, agriculture, carwashes, water resale or other high-demand uses will still need applicable water use permits.
