The Kimberley Dynamiters continued their winning ways with a 9-0 shutout of the Leafs tonight (Oct. 10) in Nelson. The Nitros outshot the Leafs 44-14.
Kimberley erupted with four unanswered goals in the first period. Nitros forward Miller Tedesco opened the scoring at 2:51, with assists from Cole Trimble and Logan Findlay.
Dynamiters forward Brayden Schwartz continued his scoring surge after netting two goals against Beaver Valley Friday night (Oct. 9). Schwartz scored 4:48 into the first period, with assists from Cohen Bell and Jaden Rusznak.
Defenceman Kole Duquette extended Nitros’ lead two minutes later off a pass from Matthew Lenz.
Rusznak scored on the power play, with assists from Riley Lettington and Reid Wilkinson, to give Kimberley a 4-0 lead heading into the second period.
Schwartz scored his second goal of the game at 12:04 of the second period, converting a pass from Nathan Laforge to extend the Nitros’ lead.
One minute later, Lettington scored with an assist by Lenz to make it 6-0.
Four minutes into the third period, Nitros defenceman Conner Grainger set up Tedesco for his second goal of the game.
Nitros forward Braeden Jack scored at 16:10 in the final period, with an assist from Shea Fitzgerald. In the final minute, Lenz scored with a pass from Lettington to seal the win.
Dynamiters goaltender Adam Kisilevich stopped all 14 shots he faced. Nelson starter Maximus Papachristopoulos made 18 saves on 24 shots, while relief goaltender Jacob Armstrong stopped 17 of 20.
Kimberley sits first in the Kootenay Division with a 6-1-1 record.
The Dynamiters return home to host the Columbia Valley Rockies on Oct. 13 at the Kimberley Civic Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
