A section of 5th Ave. between 13th St. and 15th St. in Fernie will be closed from today (Oct. 1) to Oct. 3 while contractors install underground utilities for the new Fire Hall.
An alternate route via 13th St., 6th Ave., and 15th St. will be available during this time.
Access to the RCMP and hospital will be available via 13th St. and 15th St., respectively.
Access to resident driveways and properties will also be maintained. Please follow all posted signage.
Due to the water service installation, water service will be temporarily interrupted today (Oct. 1) for nearby apartment buildings along 5th Ave and 6th Ave.
The interruption is expected to start at 11 a.m. and last approximately four hours. Notices have been delivered to affected residents.
Contractors anticipate repaving the road and pouring sidewalks following the completion of utility service connections.
The City will provide updates as construction progresses or if circumstances change.
