The Kimberley Dynamiters delivered another dominant performance Friday night (Sept. 25), defeating the Columbia Valley Rockies 8-2.
Nitros forward Jaden Rusznak scored three goals, while Miller Tedesco recorded five assists. Kimberley held a 44-38 edge in shots.
Rockies defenceman Tyson Ross scored early in the first period to give Columbia Valley the lead.
Late in the period, Nitros forward Noah Kelly tied the game with assists from Jake Murdoch and Shea Fitzgerald.
Nineteen seconds later, Rusznak scored his first goal, assisted by Tedesco and Brayden Schwartz, to send Kimberley into the second period with the lead.
In the second period, Dynamiters forward Braeden Jack scored with assists from Tedesco and Rusznak.
Rusznak added his second goal at 15:50 of the second period, assisted by Schwartz and Tedesco.
A burst of scoring began six minutes into the third period and lasted less than two minutes. Kimberley forward Murdoch opened the flurry with a power-play goal, assisted by Fitzgerald and Tedesco, to extend the Nitros’ lead.
Twenty-three seconds later, the Rockies’ Meric Poncelet scored to cut the lead to three.
Nineteen seconds later, Dynamiters defenceman Kole Duquette scored with assists from Reed Reschny and Jack. Fifty-five seconds after that, Rusznak completed his hat trick, assisted by Tedesco and Schwartz.
Late in the third period, Kimberley forward Matthew Lenz scored the team’s eighth goal of the night on a pass from Riley Lettington.
Columbia Valley’s Keatan Thompson then scored.
Dynamiters goalie Connor Baumbach stopped 35 of 38 shots, while the Rockies’ netminder saved 36 of 44.
The game’s three stars were:
First star: Miller Tedesco, Kimberley.
Second star: Jaden Rusznak, Kimberley.
Third star: Danil Timchuk, Columbia Valley.
Next up, the Dynamiters begin their homestand tonight (Sept. 26) as they take on the Revelstoke Grizzlies.
Kimberley will raise their 2025-2026 KIJHL Championship banner before the game.
