The Cranbrook Bucks staged a late third-period push but lost 4-3 to Korea University in preseason play Saturday night, Sept. 5, at Western Financial Place.
Cranbrook earned a power play with 4:46 left in the third after Korea University forward Jun Seo Lee was called for holding.

After the penalty ended, Cranbrook defenceman Cadel Gourlay beat goaltender Woo Kyoung Lee to cut the deficit to one with 2:19 remaining.
Korea University struck first 4:26 into the opening period when forward Min-Joon Huh scored, with assists from Do Hyun Kim and Da Sol Kim.
The Bucks responded early in the second, as forward Kishan Siggu scored Cranbrook’s first goal 2:04 into the period.

Cranbrook took a 2-1 lead with 10:29 left in the second when forward Shane Tronoski beat the Korea University netminder.
Korea University tied it with 5:08 left in the second when Huh scored again on Bucks goaltender Jason Tremblay.
Moments later, Korea University’s Soeng Beom Park was called for hooking. The Bucks failed to score on the power play, and Park put Korea University ahead 3-2 shortly after leaving the penalty box, with two seconds remaining in the period.

Noah Hagan took over in the Bucks’ net to start the third period.
After a scoreless first 11:34 of the third, Bucks forward Teo Pisani was called for slashing. Fifteen seconds into the penalty, Korea University’s Min-Joon Huh scored to make it 4-2.

The Bucks pushed back with several big hits in the final eight minutes and narrowed the gap to one, nearly tying the game in the closing seconds.

Bucks starter Jason Tremblay stopped 14 of 17 shots, while Noah Hagan made eight saves on nine shots in relief.
Korea University goaltender Woo Kyoung Lee made 25 saves on 28 shots.
There were 930 people in attendance for Saturday’s (September 5) game.
The Bucks visit Trail on Monday, Sept. 7, to face the Smoke Eaters, then return home Thursday, Sept. 10, for a 7 p.m. preseason rematch against Trail at Western Financial Place.
