A police incident led to road closures and a significant RCMP presence near Canadian Rockies International Airport on August 31.
On Monday (August 31) afternoon, Cranbrook RCMP responded to a report of an individual in distress. Public safety became the immediate priority, prompting officers to call in several specialized resources to support the response.
During the incident, Cranbrook RCMP worked with several specialized units, including the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), Police Dog Services (PDS), Remote Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), and Critical Incident Command personnel.
Kimberley RCMP officers also helped bring the incident to a safe resolution.
“This incident demonstrates the value of specialized policing resources and the strong collaboration between local officers and support units,” said Cst. Munro, Media Relations Officer, Cranbrook RCMP.
“Our primary objective was to ensure the safety of the public, our officers, and the individual in crisis. Thanks to the professionalism and coordinated efforts of everyone involved, the situation was resolved peacefully.”
