Bylaw enforcement leads to 76 investigations in Sparwood during July

The District of Sparwood presented its Bylaw Enforcement Month End Report for July at this week’s council meeting.

It was revealed they opened 76 new investigations in July, bringing the year-to-date total to 572 investigations.

Enforcement actions included 23 verbal warnings, 28 attendance notices, six written warnings, and three tickets, with $450 in fines levied.

Efforts during the month focused primarily on wildlife attractants and community standards compliance, supported by ongoing education and voluntary compliance initiatives.

The District also partnered with WildSafeBC to support community education efforts, distributing information to residents on reducing wildlife attractants and promoting compliance with waste management requirements.

Upcoming priorities include continued wildlife attractant reduction, waste management compliance, traffic and parking enforcement, and continued public education initiatives aimed at reducing human-wildlife conflicts.
