Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services responded to multiple 911 calls on
Monday night (April 27, 2026) reporting to a fully involved structure fire just after 6:00pm on the 300 block of 7 Avenue South in Cranbrook.
City officials say the on-duty shift responded with five members and two fire engines. Upon arrival, crews found a single family residence fully involved in flames on a busy street in a high traffic neighbourhood.
Additional firefighters were paged from home and responded to assist with fire suppression and scene operations.
The city notes, firefighters were challenged by aggressive fire conditions throughout the property, during a very busy time of day with significant vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area.
Officials say crews worked efficiently and safely to bring the fire under control and successfully extinguish it.

The Fire Department was supported by members of the RCMP, who the city says were challenged with the volume of onlookers.
In addition, the BC Ambulance Service assisted with safety throughout the operation, and the city says it is thankful for the continued support of its partner agencies.
City officials says there were no reported injuries to occupants, pets, or firefighters as a result of the incident.
Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services says it is thankful that no one was injured; however, acknowledges the incident has resulted in significant losses for the homeowners.
“This is a very difficult and emotional time for the homeowners and their family,” says Fire Chief Scott Driver. “On behalf of the Cranbrook Fire Department, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to those affected by this fire as they begin the process of recovery.”
The city says fire investigation activities are continuing on Tuesday, and the cause of the fire has not been determined at this time.
