The Cranbrook Food Bank is set to hold its annual Community-Wide Food Drive on Saturday (Apr. 25).
The organization says donations are typically strong during the holiday season but tend to decline in the spring months.
At the same time, demand for food assistance continues to increase, and the food bank cites ongoing challenges related to rising food costs.
As a result, the organization is seeking community support through this year’s drive to help maintain inventory levels and continue serving residents in need.
Organizers say they have been delivering donation bags throughout the community over the past week (Apr. 20 – Apr. 24).
Residents are asked to fill the bags with non-perishable items and leave them visible for pickup on the morning of April 25.
Volunteers are scheduled to collect donations between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Residents who miss pickup can still donate by dropping off items at Safeway, Superstore, Save-On-Foods, or the Cranbrook Food Bank during operating hours.
The organization notes that last year’s drive collected more than 18,000 pounds of food.
