The 2026 Cranbrook Youth Ambassador candidates were officially introduced Saturday night (April 11) during the Youth Ambassador Banquet and Ball at the Colombo Lodge.
According to organizers, the event included speeches from Mayor Wayne Price and Spirit of the Rockies Chair Missy Besanger.
While the gala marked the candidates’ formal introduction, organizers say candidates have been involved in the program and local events since December 2025.
Organizers say the candidates have taken part in weekly learning sessions and volunteered at several events, including the Lions Club Seniors Light Up, Rotary Seniors Christmas Dinner, Kinsmen Heritage Dinner and activities with their sponsors.
The group was also the top overall fundraising team for the 2026 Coldest Night of the Year Walk, raising more than $3,500, according to organizers.
In the coming weeks, organizers say the candidates will support events such as the Rotary Gala and Auction, the Kootenay Children’s Festival and a seniors tea, and will represent Cranbrook at festivals in Trail and Castlegar.
Organizers add that the candidates have begun Toastmasters training and will deliver prepared speeches at the annual Dessert Auction on May 26 at the Eagles Hall.
The year-end showcase is set for June 19 as part of RockiesFest.
