The families of three young men from Alberta and Wilmer, B.C., have received answers in court regarding a fatal crash that occurred in the summer of 2024.
On July 9, 2024, Jackson Freeman, 25, Brady Tardif, 25, and Gavin Murray, 21, died when their truck left the highway and went down an embankment on Westside Road, near Panorama Drive in Wilmer, B.C.
The driver, 23-year-old Haley Jade Watson, faced three counts of impaired driving causing death and three counts of dangerous driving causing death.
Court documents indicate Watson was under the influence of alcohol and driving recklessly when she lost control of the vehicle, went down the embankment, and struck a pole, killing all three passengers.
According to court documents, analysis showed her blood alcohol content was 168 per cent at the time of the crash.
Watson was reportedly travelling at 118 km/h, more than double the speed limit.
Watson will serve a prison sentence of two years, less a day, followed by three years of probation.
She was also sentenced to 240 hours of community service as part of her probation and given a three-year driving prohibition.
