The City of Fernie is continuing to support local initiatives that better the community through an annual discretionary grant.
The grant committee has approved a total of $8,000 to support five projects, ranging from a youth education program by the Elk River Watershed Alliance to hall washroom renovations at Fernie Elks Lodge.
“Thank you to all the applicants, and to the many organizations and their volunteers doing excellent work to make Fernie a great place to live!” wrote the City in a social media post.
Other recipients include Cycling without Age, the Elk Valley Rugby Football Club, and the Ghostrider Adventure Camp.
The grant policy has been modified to allow for two intakes annually starting this year.
The next intake opens in March with $9,000 in available funding. The application deadline is March 31.
