Elk Valley RCMP say officers were kept busy Thursday, Jan. 15, responding to several serious incidents across the region.
The day began with a call from staff at the Fording River mine site, reporting that a senior man had arrived disoriented.
Officers arrived and determined the man was a missing person from Alberta who did not know where he was.
RCMP say they assisted in returning the man and his truck to Sparwood, where he was reunited with family members and transported safely back to his home in Alberta.
Later that same morning, officers were called to assist with setting up a landing zone for a STARS emergency helicopter after a snowboarder suffered significant injuries.
Ambulance services also responded, and the snowboarder was transported for immediate treatment.
Additionally, a Fernie man was arrested and charged after allegedly uttering threats to an RCMP officer on the same day.
Elk Valley RCMP say policing is a dynamic profession, and days like this keep officers on their toes.
