The East Kootenay Foundation (EKFH) for Health has announced a new donation in support of a standalone hospice home in the Kootenays.
The project, led by the Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice Society, aims to provide a comfortable, non-hospital setting for end-of-life care, giving families a peaceful environment to spend time with loved ones.
The East Kootenay Telus Community Ambassadors contributed $1,107 to the project.
The Telus Community Ambassadors are a volunteer group of retired and current Telus employees, with 11 clubs operating across British Columbia.
The East Kootenay chapter supports local initiatives, including baby bags for newborns and premature infants, backpacks and school supplies for students, and monthly birthday celebrations for residents of the FW Green Long Term Care Home.
Funding for their initiatives comes from local fundraising events and the Telus Friendly Future Foundation.
Each year, the East Kootenay club directs its portion of the foundation’s support toward a regional health care project.
This year, the group chose to support the hospice home.
