The Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce is looking to make sure residents have enough to gobble up this holiday season with the launch of this year’s Turkey Drive.
From now until Christmas, December 25, a team of “Pluckers” from the Chamber will be flocking to the streets for donations, with all proceeds going to the Cranbrook Food Bank and Salvation Army.
“It all started when the members got wind many years ago that there weren’t enough funds to fulfill the Christmas hamper program, and so Chamber volunteers and Chamber members got on the phone and they started calling all these businesses and saying, ‘Can you help out?’,” said Stacey Brensrund, Chamber executive director.
“The business community really rallied and made sure that the residents of Cranbrook did not go without for that holiday season.”
Donations can be made online, by cheque to The Salvation Army, or by cash drop-off at the Cranbrook Chamber office. You can also visit The Great Turkey Fundraiser at Save-on-Foods until December 2.
An announcement of results and top fundraisers is set for the following week, on December 10.
This year’s goal is $65,000.
