Residents in the East Kootenay are being invited to take part in public workshops and a survey to help shape future regulations for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs).
ADUs are living spaces located on the same property as a primary residence.
They can be interior, attached or detached spaces.
The Regional District of East Kootenay has launched a public engagement process to gather feedback on potential bylaw changes related to ADUs.
RDEK planner Sarah Baines says strong public input will help ensure a range of views and priorities are considered.
Both the survey and workshops will gather feedback on a variety of topics, including what types of spaces should qualify and where residents would like to see them located.
Fifteen workshops are scheduled across the region until Dec. 1, including two online sessions.
An online survey is also open until Dec. 1 at engage.rdek.bc.ca/housing.
The RDEK says potential changes will be shared with the public and the board in early 2026.
