The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) is investigating a second derailment in the East Kootenay involving a Canadian Pacific Kansas City train.
TSB said Tuesday that it was deploying a team after a train derailed overnight near Jaffray, roughly 45 kilometres southeast of Cranbrook.
A CPKC spokesperson says there were no injuries, leaks of any products or risk to public safety after 16 cars derailed, though one was carrying dangerous goods.
The derailment comes a week after an incident near Elko, about 20 kilometres east of Jaffray, where CPKC says 12 empty train cars left the tracks.
No one was injured in that derailment.
