Cranbrook’s Ed Fest is set to return September 5 and 6 at Rotary Park.
The two-day festival includes live music, art installations, workshops, an artisan market, and a lantern parade.
The event draws inspiration from the story of Cranbrook Ed, an elephant that reportedly escaped from a traveling circus in 1926.
Ed roamed the Kootenays for over a month before being recaptured near Jim Smith Lake.
The festival aims to celebrate the history and community response surrounding Ed’s escape.
Performers scheduled for the festival include Shred Kelly, Miesha & The Spanks, Maddisun, and Ethan Askey & The Elevators.
The festival also features an art competition and encourages participation in a downtown “stampede” event with a large Ed replica.
Ed Fest 2025 is free to attend and open to all ages.
