Drivers in downtown Cranbrook may notice a change at the intersection of Baker Street and 10th Avenue S.
A temporary four-way stop is now in place after a lightning storm took out the traffic lights.
“The lights failed due to an electrical surge from a recent storm,” says the City of Cranbrook. “We’ve set up a four-way stop until further notice.”
City crews will add set stop signs in the coming days while officials conduct a traffic study to decide on a long-term fix.
Options could range from replacing the lights, redesigning the intersection, keeping the 4-way stop, or another potential solution.
Updates will be shared once the study is complete.
